What is Word Turtle Island? Word Turtle Island is an action plus relaxing game about using the power of words to rescue books and readers.

I’ve been putting all I got into it as a solo indie game creator for 2.5 years so far yet I’ve been fairly quiet about it. I feel it helped me focus on getting the art, story, code, music, design ready to publish as an early access game.

Now it’s time to be far less quiet. I’ll be publishing a few behind the scenes articles here and audio on the Polytechnicast. Taking about things like how it took some time to figure out what this game was about, how I wanted it to work, what it should be like to play. For 2.5 years it’s been my main gig, building, playing, and learning the answers to those questions plus asking my self why I’m making it. Along the way I started out thinking it would be a typing action game but since then I’ve built three ways to play: game controller, typing, and touch/mouse. I realized it’s about how words are powerful any way you encounter them, not just typing. So much to share. For now you can check out the game trailer, screens gallery, gameplay, and features.
